Evaluation Question 6- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What I have learnt about TECHNOLOGIES from the process of constructing this product is that my research has to match my product in order for it to be applicable to the public. I have used the internet to search for different magazine to put it onto my BLOGGER.Through the intenet I have tried to secure that I have sufficient information for me to create my original idea. Having this information has helped me with the creation of my product. It also took me a while to grasp ‘blogger’ but I have practised and explored to enhance my use of it.

In addition, I had used Adobe InDesign for the preliminary task however it has still been a challenge trying to create a masterpiece as there were certain effects that I wanted to create that I did not know to. Therefore I decided to play around the tools and use InDesign  to create my front cover, contents page and double page spread. I had to play with different fonts to decide what would best suit my product as certain fonts appeareed to soft or too harsh and I wanted a font that was in between. I also had to use different colour swatches to blend with the feel of my magazine. Lastly I used different effects on the fonts to make it stand out or blend with the background colour or image.

I also used  ADOBE PHOTOSHOP to edit my pictures. I used various layers to create a particular look for example to add more hair to my models head. I also used the clone tool to give a flawless appearance to the face. I needed some assistance initially but have become more familiar with how to use the tools effectively on my own with practice. I also used the lasso tool which is very effective with the use of opacity and the HARSHNESS of the brush.I feel more self-reliant to use it in the future due to the process of contstructing my product.

Evaluation Question 4- Who would be the audience of your media product?

My target audience desire to see a captivating photo of an artist they are familiar with as this will make them more inclined to purchase the product. As my target audience is young adults both male and female, they will want to see a front cover that does not disregard a gender but rather connects the two to create a desirable product. For example I am planning to have a woman on my front cover with blue writing for the title as blue is stereotypically for males. Or perhaps I could have my front cover as a male but have a lilac colour for the title to decrease the focus mainly on males.

Front Cover Preparation

This is my magazine preperation and it will be exactly how I would like my magazine to turn out. However initially I said that I would not have a bar code but putting one there adds to the magazine feel, so i have therefore decided to out one in the bottom left corner.

4 Photographs Used

This is the FIRST out of the four photos I will be using for the front cover of my music magazine. I really like this photo due the flawless look and the heavy eye makeup which I learnt enhance the beauty of her eyes and highlight her pale skin. I was almost convinced to use the same picture without gray scale however my research did not SUPPORT this idea.

This is the second picture I will be using for contents page as it involves the musical instrument so my product does not seem as if it is diverting from the MUSICAL ELEMENT. In addition I made did not allow the models face to be shown as there is already a close up on the front cover and as the model on the front cover is the main issue I would not like the focus to be diverted away from her. However I still feel that without showing the models face the photo is still very attractive and creates a particular atmosphere. I have made sure this is in colour to contrast from the front cover.

This is the third picture I will be using for the double page spread. This will be the main picture on the left hand side taking up most of page to make a statement. This picture will also be in gray scale to LINK with the front cover. I will edit the photo so the elbow will be shown in the whole image as it. I am also going to colour in the white parts of the picture black as the whole background on my double page spread is black. I will also have to make sure I edit out all her spots to give a flawless look to the picture.

This is the FOURTH picture I will be using for the double page spread. This will not be the main picture on the right side of the page with 2 or 3 more pictures in a much smaller sizes than the third photo. The reason for these photos is to act like a timeline to show Katrina and how she started to the moment of that interview. These photos should take up 1/3 of the right page. These pictures will be in colour to bring some life to the page as the background will be black which can make the page look a bit dull without colour or pictures to help brighten it up.

Target Group

At the start of my AS media course we talked about the various target groups we were planning to aim towards as particular AGE, ETHNICITY, CLASS AND STATUS, SEXUALITY AND REGIONAL IDENTITIES were displayed in different ways through the use of the media industry. Through this general research we were able to determine the ways the media portrayed people and the kind of impressions that were depicted. This then allowed me to choose the particular group I would like to aim my product at and it also helped me determine the way I would like my models to be dressed and the expression on their faces.

Music Magazine Mood Board

I have chosen to incorporate a picture of Madonna as she displays a pop mood to the magazine and Seal as he presents the souful side of the magazine. There are various colours which are blue pink and yellow to display a lively feel to the magazine. The jazz notes incorporate the music side of the magazine which is vital. in addition the various good looking models such as chanel iman encourage an appealing look to the magazine as people are aware of the model they should also be knowledgeable about the model in my fornt cover. I also  have pictures of other musical instruments or forms of music such as the guitar and the vinyl record player to encourage the music side of the magazine. My mood board displays the theme I would like my music magazine to employ. I would like my music magazine to be specifically aimed at pop/jazz styled people from apporoximately aged seventeen onwards. I have also included women and men of different ethnicity's so that I will not be segregated the audience which should hopefully encourage different women and men to purchase the magazine.
